Both the Smart Stick and Smart Ear thermometers have been extensively tested and comply with all requirements from the US Food & Drug Administration, the European ISO, and EEA CE.
That being said, there are some small pieces included so the Kinsa should always be used with adult supervision.
Additionally the U.S. Mayo Clinic has the following recommendations for digital thermometers:
- Regular Digital Thermometers (e.g. stick):
“A digital thermometer is appropriate for newborns, infants, children and adults.” *
- Digital Ear Thermometers:
“Digital ear thermometers are appropriate for infants older than age 6 months, older children and adults.” *
“Digital ear thermometers aren't recommended for newborns.” *
However please research the best method for taking your infant’s temperature on your own.
