If your Smart Ear thermometer won't turn on, these steps will that for you.
The steps are different based on whether or not your Smart Ear has a side button:
If your thermometer does have a side button, and you've already tried fresh batteries:
- Remove the batteries.
- Clean the battery cavity with a cotton swab
- Put the batteries back in.
If your thermometer does not have a side button, and you've already tried fresh batteries:
A failed firmware update could be causing the problem. This is especially likely if you just got your new thermometer, connected it with the Kinsa app, and it worked for the first time but then wouldn't turn on again for the second time.
In that case, you can fix it right away by using the Kinsa app's Thermometer Recovery feature:
- Open your Kinsa app
- Tap the ⚙️Settings gear in the top right corner
- Tap Smart Ear
- Tap Thermometer Recovery
- Follow the on-screen instructions
