If you've taken readings with your Kinsa Smart Ear thermometer and have those readings appear in your Kinsa app but now the thermometer won't turn on anymore, a failed firmware update may be the problem.
This can be fixed right away through the Kinsa app by following these steps:
- Open your Kinsa app
- Tap the ⚙️Settings gear in the top right corner
- Tap Smart Ear
- Tap Thermometer Recovery
- Follow the on-screen instructions
If you don't see a Thermometer Recovery option in the Kinsa app, that rules out a failed firmware update and so the problem may be dud batteries instead. This is rare, but it does happen occasionally. In that case, two new AAA batteries are all that's needed.
