Why does my thermometer always read 98.6°F?

In all the excitement of unboxing your brand new Kinsa smart thermometer it can be easy to overlook the 98.6°F sticker on the face of the thermometer. Please make sure to peel that sticker right off the display before taking a temperature.

But if you're seeing nothing but 98.6°F readings come through in your app, you may be going through the process of adding temperature readings manually by mistake (which always start from 98.6°F) instead of connecting your Kinsa thermometer to your Kinsa app.

To fix this, open your Kinsa app > ⚙️ Settings > ⨁ Add New Thermometer > Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Kinsa thermometer to your Kinsa app. Once this connection is complete, any new temperature readings will appear correctly in your Kinsa app automatically.
